College has been out for summer but the students have carried or regardless

College may have been out for the summer, but the #IAmEnterprising Students certainly didn’t let that stop them building on their knowledge from the competition and progressing their business ideas. As the new academic year is about to start, we thought it would be good to take five minutes and see exactly where a couple of the competition entrants are up to.

Kate was our competition winner and since May has been working hard with The Women’s Organisation to develop her ideas for her winning business idea, Gallery Cocoa. Gallery Cocoa will be a luxury chocolate and patisserie business that retails Kate’s home made goodies to individuals and businesses.

Following winning the competition she was paired up with Business Advisor, Francine Taylor, and has attended many of the courses on offer here. These courses include; Planning for Success; a one day business planning courses which gives you all the ‘need to know’s’ about writing a business plan.

Kate has been in contact with all of the sponsors to take us the fantastic elements of the prize package , including her £1000 cash from Morecrofts Solicitors and we can’t wait until it all comes together and she is ready to launch! Did we mention as well that her chocolates are absolutely delish?? No, well we have now!

We asked Kate how she felt like things were going since the competition and this is what she had to say:

'The support has been unbelievable and I am learning so much about business. I can't wait to get going and couldn't have done it without the support of the #IAmEnterprising project'

Watch this space because we will be shouting about Kate and her business when she officially launches later in the year.

Kiara was one of the runner-up’s of the competition and has been developing her business as a Photographer and Graphic Designer with The Women's Organisation. On the day of the final pitch in the competition she brought a show reel with her of some of her fantastic photography and designs that wowed us so much, we asked her to come and do some work for us here at The Women’s Organisation.

After attending some of the courses and working with her Business Advisor, John Jones, we invited Kiara to come in and photograph some of the other women that we have been helping along in their business journeys. Kiara came in and photographed 10 women across the day and these images will be able to be used by the businesses to help them look more professional. Kiara has also been helping us to design a logo for our new and improved Business Club.

We're really proud of Kate, Kiara, and all of the other students who have also been in to see us over the holidays attending courses and taking on our advice. Self Employment doesn't only operate during term time like college does,  it's more of a 24/7 set up so the students are really setting themselves in good steed for the future by dedicating all of the extra time to their planning.

So as we all get ready to gear up for a new academic year, we are looking forward to being back in touch with The City of Liverpool College and their students and excited at what a new term will bring.

In the mean time if there's any students of the college that want to speak to us about their ideas, don't hesitate, as always, to give us a shout!
